A competent multi skilled technical professional with a first class track record as a Business Analyst, Development Project manager, Technical Author, Quality Author, and a certified company Quality Auditor.

 

Originally a BT Transmission Network Engineer and Trainer, then Business Analyst, and Project Manager for BT Private Services 'Quality, Systems, and Strategy'. I left BT in 1994 to start my own limited company documenting hardware and software solutions for the Telecommunications and IT industry for clients such as Alcatel, Hewlett Packard, Ionica etc. I continue to use my Business Analyst skills to help companies develop their core procedures, processes and local work instructions, and carry out Internal Company quality audits for clients such as Call Out Services, Aculab, and CACHE.

·          Business Process re-engineering and change management of BT private services using MSIS (pre ITIL) principles on the design, development, and implementation of hardware, business process, and mainframe CRM fault management and business information systems, predominantly to reduce support staff requirements by 80%.

 

·          Managed the supply and installation division of a medium sized systems integrator, over 1700 sites in 3 years.

 

·          Tested, documented, and published an entire product range for cutting edge computer telephony hardware and software. Including standards, API, SDK, GUI, installation, user, support, and admin guides in hard copy, PDF, web (SGML/HTML/XML), and On Line Help formats.

 

·          Specification and documentation of Alcatel’s Highways project network (Cisco, Telindus, Mainstreet, IBM Proviso, Genesys Express, web servers, etc…), enabling the integration of analogue onto digital (IP), to very tight deadlines.

1997 – 2000 Call Out ServicesDirector/Programme Manager - Telecoms Systems Division

Project managing the analysis, design (pre sales), and delivery of data and telecommunication (LAN/WAN/PBX/x25/FR/ SDH/DWDM etc…) installation and support services into BT exchanges, corporate business customers, and other Blue chip clients. Predominantly green field projects, building the infrastructure, Management, Admin, and Installation Teams. ·          ALCATEL TELECOM - Communications Consultant and Technical Author - Analysing, specifying, testing, and documentation of new Synchronous Digital Hierarchy (SDH) Network Management (Solaris based), Business Systems, processes, Help, and Support Systems.

 

·          HEWLETT PACKARD (Telecom Systems Division) - Technical Author - Specifying, evaluating, test verification, and documentation of various Unix based Common Channel Signalling/Signalling System Number 7 (CSS/SS7) Network Management Systems. 1985 – 1994 British Telecom Plc – Quality, Systems, & Strategy - Business Analyst and Project Manager

The remit - Identify and Implement solutions to remove the need for 3,000 exchange test engineers and 6,000 field staff used to manage private services fault primary diagnostic via a protracted manual paper docket system.

 

The solutions:

·          Project manage the design, budgetary control, and prototype development of Automatic Loop-back Equipment Systems (Network Terminating Units), removing the need for field staff to apply test links at customer premises.

 

·          Project manage the technical tender adjudication, network design, procurement, and installation of £80M of RATES (Remote Access Test Equipment Systems) into over 3,000 UK locations. Removing the need for exchange test engineers.

 

·          Project manage the design, development, testing, implementation and processes for mainframe CRM systems (CAMSS - Computer Assisted Management for Special Services), delivering centralised fault management and information systems nationally.

 

·          Project manage the design and rollout of a UK wide SNA and IP network of Service desks, enabling 9,000 users to support BT Private Services via a paperless system (CAMSS).

 

·          Business Process Re-engineering and Change Management of BT Private Services repair processes and procedures to BSI 5750 and ISO 9000 standards.

 

·          Facilities Management of the Quality, Systems and Strategy department relocations, moves and changes throughout the UK. Both office and computer system environments.

 

·          Warehouse Management as part of a national 10 year rollout of CAMSS, RATES, and IT networks.

 

Conclusion – A receptionist takes a private services fault call. While customer contact details are being confirmed the system automatically tests the circuit and allocates a task for any faults found to a specific repair engineer work queue.
