Welcome to the Great Linford Scout Group

What is Scouting?

The aim of the Scout Association is to promote the development of young people in achieving their full physical, intellectual, social and spiritual potential, as individuals, as responsible citizens and as members of their local, national and international communities.

The Method of achieving the Aim of the Association is by providing an enjoyable and attractive scheme of progressive training, based on the Scout Promise and Law, and guided by adult leadership.

Great Linford Scouts

Great Linford Scouts have three sections run by trained volunteer leaders and parent helpers. The age groups are:

Beavers 6 - 8
Cubs 8 - 11
Scouts 10.5 - 14

The cost of Scouting

In addition to Capitation, there will be a small annual administration fee payable by all members to cover the costs of running the Group

Capitation
Every Scout member must pay a capitation fee each year. For Scouts other than Fellowship, this includes a contribution to District and County as well as Headquarters. Fellowship pay the Scout insurance levy to headquarters only. (The 2009 headquarters insurance levy was approximately £20.00)

Membership is calculated as of 31st December each year, requiring Capitation Fees to be paid to the Group Treasurer no later than 14th December.

Uniform
All Scouting members are responsible for the cost of any uniform that they may wish to purchase.

At present fellowship members either wear their Group scarf or the Gilwell scarf as appropriate. Group scarves can be purchased via the GSL at cost price.
